This custom DDF Aquanaut 5167A takes the standard factory platform significantly further with coordinated upgrades to the dial, crystal, movement architecture, movement finishing, and automatic winding rotor.
The dial side has been upgraded with a complete SW component package. An SW embossed black dial replaces the standard factory dial, accompanied by SW hands and an SW date wheel for a more cohesive appearance across the primary visible components.
A Deep crystal has also been installed to improve transparency and clarity over the dial. The upgraded crystal provides a cleaner view of the embossed dial texture, applied markers, hands, and date display while reducing unwanted reflections.
The movement has received a significant free-sprung upgrade, replacing the conventional regulated balance architecture with a free-sprung configuration. This eliminates the traditional regulator index and creates a balance assembly that more closely follows the architecture and appearance of the intended caliber.
Beyond the balance assembly, the movement decks have also been upgraded. The replacement components feature improved finishing together with more precise gold laser-engraved lettering, significantly refining the appearance of the movement through the sapphire exhibition caseback.
The standard automatic rotor has additionally been replaced with an upgraded CNC-machined rotor. The rotor is gold plated to reproduce the warm metallic appearance of the intended winding rotor while the CNC construction provides sharper geometry and detailing than the standard factory component.
Together, the free-sprung movement conversion, upgraded movement decks, improved gold laser engraving, and CNC gold-plated rotor create a substantially more refined movement-side appearance rather than focusing exclusively on external modifications.
Completing the watch is the signature black composite-style strap, maintaining the clean and understated sports-watch character of the 5167A.
